What are the areas where automation yields the most?

RPA can be used basically with all business processes but automation is the most beneficial with the following tasks.

Manual and repetitive tasks

RPA mostly used with tasks that occur frequently, in large numbers, repetitive and requires constant human interaction or supervision. Repetitive tasks hold a significant risk of human error. Robots work 100% error free.

Rule based tasks

Processes and their parameters are clearly defined and pre-determined.

Processes with only a few or no exceptions

These are hard-coded processes which rarely change. The robot can confidently handle a small number of exceptions but if the number of exceptions is relatively high automation may not be an economical solution as the development cost may be too high.

Input data come from constant, pre-set sources

Tasks fall into this category when data, required by the process, is derived from the same source or sources. Input data source can basically be anything, e.g.: Excel, e-mail, PDF file, ERP systems, internal or external databases, websites, etc.

Constant and well-functioning processes

Processes that are tested and work well with no intent to be changed in the near future.
